I found my new carry on bag!

>> Friday, January 29, 2010

Kate Moss does it again! Her new collaboration with Longchamp has me excited. I can't get enough of bags - in any size. But because of my traveling I have been trying to find the perfect carry on bag. I don't want it to get lost in the abundance of black wheelies, so forget wheelies and anything in black! And lucky I travel with my wonderful and loving husband who can carry this baby for me (on the right)...

P.S. The Longchamp Le Pliage is SO popular in Bangkok at the moment. I'm sure that every second person had it!

Illustration Love

>> Thursday, January 28, 2010

When I first began getting into blogs, not having even thought of doing it myself yet, I was in love with Garance Doré. What caught my eye were her illustrations since my husband's artistic-ness began rubbing off on me. I honestly didn't even take note of her photographs. But anyways, I love them and I love her blog. Even though she's so shallow. Haha! Here is some Garance love...

P.S. Her boyfriend is the well known, The Sartorialist

Just a minute in...January

>> Tuesday, January 26, 2010

It's been a while since I've done this, just got so busy towards the end of 2009 that I couldn't even take a minute! But here is to the beginning of 2010...

Watching... we have just found normal MTV (not the Indian version) and we're not changing the channel just in case it disappears...
Eating...
nothing right now, but still full from our French Anniversary dinner last night! Was strange to have Nepali waiters speak in French...
Reading... 'Nine Parts of Desire' by Geraldine Brooks about the Hidden World of Islamic Women. I'm very into Middle Eastern culture at the moment.
Listening... to Alicia Keys new album, 'Element of Freedom'
Wanting... hrmm, a lot of things. But I'm currently focusing on a special bag called, Chanel.
Excited about... holiday plans brewing. Europe perhaps?

Give Me Warmth

I love this photo for one simple reason: she looks WARM!

I have no idea how to dress well and still manage to be warm. I'm currently wearing socks with my ballet flats. Like I said, I have no idea how to dress well and still be warm!

Coco Avant Chanel

>> Thursday, January 21, 2010

On our flight from Sydney to Bangkok I watched Coco Avant Chanel (Coco before Chanel). I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to see it and I was so surprised by Gabrielle Chanel's life before the couture label. I read a few reviews about the film, and alot of people mention the contradictions in her life. One major one is the fact that she created/wore clothes that did not conform to the traditional style of that time: no corsets, big puffy dresses, no big hats etc. and instead created her own brand that is now considered the 'ultimate' in the fashion world, of which every woman wants to get her little mittens on.
I loved to see how little by little her style and clothing develop into familiar pieces throughout the film, such as the tweed jackets, that we can still see now as Chanel classics. I, like most women that have seen the movie, fell in love with the black dress that she wore dancing with the love of her life, Boy Chapel. My oh my, it was just beautiful...
I think the greatest thing about this film, was that it wasn't glamorous. It was real, and didn't Audrey Tautou do a fabulous job? Love her!

Orange Penguins

>> Wednesday, January 20, 2010

So while I was in Australia, I had a list of not only things to by, but books to read. I realised it's time to 'culture' myself and read some classics, and am now truly obsessed with the Orange Penguin Paperback Classics.

Since living in Nepal I have developed lots of spare time and my new favourite thing to do is read. I think in 2009 I read more books than ever before. I even re-read books that I never read properly during high school because I 'had' to.

So here is me with my first classic that I finished in about a day. Such an easy read, Breakfast At Tiffany's totally stunned me. Here I was thinking it would be a cute and funny book that would possibly mention a bit more about Tiffany's, but alas it didn't and lucky that I now know the real story...

Any recommendations for what to read next from the Penguin classics?

Back to Business

>> Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Hello everyone! I'm back in Nepal after a month's wonderful holiday is Australia. Our whirlwind East Coast tour took us from Bangkok to Melbourne to Brisbane to Sydney to Bangkok again. It was a great trip and me and my husband loved seeing and spending time with all our wonderful family and friends. There were quite a few people that we missed out on seeing, but fingers crossed for a move back to Australia next year and unlimited hang out time :)

I have some really awesome posts coming up drawn from inspiration on our trip, so here's to the beginning of a really great 2010!

Take a note from Rachel Zoe's, The Zoe Report, and check out this Hermès Leather Ulysses MM Agenda in florescent pink. I am really into documenting things, and a new year and new diary is one of my life simple pleasures :)

But at $325, I think my beloved Kikki.K diary will just have to do!
