Bookshelf Porn

Hrmm...no. Not the kind of porn you put on the shelf, but rather the shelf itself! I found Bookshelf Porn via Oh Joy!'s tweets (You must see her blog, it's what inspired me to start blogging!) and have been trawling through the pages of bookshelves all morning. Some beautiful, some classic, some broken and some blue. I completely agree with the following quote, nothing will ever replace acutally turning the paper page of a book...

Jewelery Trees

My jewelery is currently living in a jewelery box, mixed and tangled like spaghetti. It's an ugly scene, but these jewelry stands by Urban Outfitters makes me feel better...

My favourites are left top and middle. I think the ring umbrella would be very handy!

Sweet sweet love

How cute are these pillow cases? I bought them at a random stall at MBK in Bangkok, Thailand. They come in many different illustrations, mainly featuring the boy chasing the girl (which I don't think my husband liked very much!). I'm not exactly sure if they will match any of our quilt/sheet sets, or if we will use them at all, but they are very cute nonetheless!

The World Around Us

I absolutely LOVE traveling (borderline obsessed). It's gotten to the point where my husband realised that I enjoy the trip to the airport and the however long flight as much as the destination. He even compared me to a child, because I get so excited about things out the plane window.

But anyway, when I was young I had one of those desks that had the world map on it, and instead of study my books I would study the map and circle countries that I wanted to go to 'when I grew up'. So naturally, now that I am kinda 'grown up' I want a big wall world map so I can continue to look at it and dream.

Grey Walls

How pretty is this headboard? But if you look beyond that, the grey walls are what have caught my eye.

It looks great with the white frame/edge things (anyone know the name?). A really simple wall decoration, I love it!

I'm saving all these ideas for that one day my husband and I will own a house and will hopefully build and decorate it from scratch.

Love it

Isn't my husband a treasure?

He knows just what I'm looking for and what catches my eye, so he saved this image on our desktop knowing that I would smile and make ohh-ing and ahh-ing noises at it. I think this gold wallpaper would look wonderful in a future house of ours.

It's a finalist in the 2009 Turner Prize. A British competition which is awarded to the best visual artist under the age of 50.

But my husband should also probably learn that when I see something I like...I also ask if he can buy it for me.

I have been eying off the Missoni home collection for a little while now, because one thing that I'm always willing to splurge on is a new bed covers and this-and-that for the house (not that I have a permanent home yet...). I love the prints Missoni use. They are so vibrant and unique - I just hope they aren't too 'girly' for my husband...

The Curious Case of Buttons

I am still reveling in excitement from my visit to the craft shop yesterday. I have always loved craft shops, in Australia and anywhere else in the world, but the only problem is that I never seem to have the time to sit down and indulge myself in the actual craft-making. At the craft shop I saw hand-twined pieces of rope, handmade paper, hand carved brass pendants, and my favourite: little buttons that looked like pieces from a tree trunk, buttons that were shaped into elephants, rhinos and jewels, some even with Buddha's face on them!

I realized that I really love buttons. Buttons on clothing can be a determining factor in my decision of purchase. And BIG buttons...well they sell me every time! So now I am going to buy a pack of these wooden style buttons to put on our wedding Thank You cards, just because I love buttons!

Lists of Lists

I just came back from our local paper & craft shop, Lokta, because my husband and I's wedding Thank You cards are well over due and we will be getting them printed there. But while I was in the store I made a very big mental list of all the Nepali trinkets and souvenirs I need to buy before we go back to the dear shores of Australia.

Here are some of the few things:
♣ A photo album with handmade paper pages
♣ An antique Tibetan jewelery box (see my blog post on them here)
♣ Screen printed Nepali prints to be framed
♣ Many handmade paper lamp shades
♣ Lots of journals made from handmade paper
♣ A woven rattan seat
Don't ask me how they are going to fit in one suitcase...

A Perfect Little Home

I'm not sure what got into me. I was thinking about our return to Australia and where we were going to live, and then all of a sudden took a very large detour to France to see what houses they had on offer over there! And here I found this perfect little cottage near Lyon, with a big yard for all my children to run around in and that classic country home feel. I just hope that the blue couches and the moose head don't come with the house!

Stick 'em up

Sorry I haven't posted in nearly 2 whole entire days! But you see, my friends, I am attempting at being productive in other areas of my life. Because, I'm trying not to be a slave to the interweb. It's a very evil addiction.

But here is something that has thrilled my heart, a French couple that are passionate about typography and design, and have wanted to create Harmonie-intérieure (harmonic interiors). They sell stickers and posters for your walls, what a nifty idea! Their idea is basic but is as good as works of art hanging on your wall.
I think their stickers made for kids bedrooms are absolutely beautiful...

meetings = bleh!

today i'm pretty much going to be in meetings all day...much to my dismay (had to complete the rhyme there!). the only good thing about them is that i get to drink nepali tea and try the variety of biscuits on offer...hopefully that will be enough to get me through the day!

maybe if we had a meeting in a room like this i will be more inclined to be active and awake! loving the light and space....

Feeling like flamingos!

i was watching animal planet like i do on most Saturday arvos, when on came a special on flamingos. i was so intrigued by them that all i could think about for the rest of the evening was flamingos and their bright pink colour and the fact that they love volcanic lakes and how they stand on one leg! then i began imagining them on t-shirts and in my garden (well my flower pots on the balcony) and do believe that i am now obsessed!
