Nepal's First Skateboard Store

>> Thursday, May 28, 2009

Nepal can now add another natural wonder to it's list: its first Skateboard Store created by Arniko Skateboards. Arniko makes handcrafted, personalised skateboards here in Nepal. They are made under humane conditions, with the traditional Nepalese art of woodcarving and are made for cruising - the east side! haha ok, lame joke, i know...
i love the use of the bare wood - no paint - just natural!

They not only sell skateboards, but streetwear such as t-shirts, hoodies, jackets and bags...

the store will also feature some tees from KVMN - designed by my husband!

OPENING TOMORROW:
Friday, 29th May 2009
1st Floor, Sagarmatha Bazar, Thamel
Kathmandu, Nepal

please contact me if you would like more details!

i just took a holiday

>> Tuesday, May 26, 2009

you know how they say that a change is as good as a holiday? well i just took one!
i felt inspired to change my logo and title and the above is what i came up with. i think i'm going to change it every couple of weeks with a new lil saying and image - just to mix it up a bit!

i would love your feedback on them too, so eventually i can choose just one!

and thanks to my designer hubby for sharing his technical skills with me - i love you!

the keys to my heart?

tiffany.
mmmm! just the word alone makes me think of blue boxed packages tied up with string, now this is one of my favourite things... woops, i think i got a bit confused with a musical about a family singing in the Austrian alps (which is my all time favourite movie by the way).
but beauty is definately found in these gorgeous key pendants brimming with intrigue and allure...
now i took tiffany's suggestion to mix and match and design my own 'look', so are a few pendants that i would love to treasure...

stalker alert!

>> Friday, May 22, 2009

so...i'm a stalker. the internet has obviously encouraged this. it is just so much easier to find out who's doing what, going where, seeing who, eating which and wearing what - and i'm not just talking about the stars. but come on, as if i'm the first person to admit it! curiousity is the driver behind it and you just have to admit it...girls are especially guilty of this. i mean, this is why you are reading my blog, is it not?

ok please don't close this window! i am not trying to deter you from reading about my silly billy wishlists and discoveries that 'thrill my heart', instead i am trying to encourage it! hence why i make blog posts nearly everyday...but anyway back to stalking. yes i stalk - it's true, and i realised the extent of this when after every episode of The Hills i Google which designer Lauren was wearing when she had that coffee with Audrina or when Kelly her boss tells her that she has to fire Stephanie... (its a white and navy bar tank by Philip Lim incase you were wondering too!)

so through the beauty of Google and the internet, i found this super duper fantastic site called Seen On which pretty much does the research for me. it basically stalks the fashionistas of TV and film - finds out what they are wearing and documents it for me. ahh too easy!

while going through Lauren's 'file' i noticed a recurring theme: alice + olivia.
very cool stuff by stacey bendet from NY who started it all from a pants obsession and nicknames her clothes 'stacey pants'.

i want to wear this stuff too! if you happen to visit the alice+olivia website make sure you keep an on eye on the models...they kept running away from me!

ohh i am burning with desire to buy these things! but i can't stop thinking about the pros, cons and potential adverse affects that could happen if i do (e.g. unimpressed husband)...so instead i will dwell on these pictures - that, or i will 'accidentally' hit the 'checkout' button...

i mean, i still have some of k.rudd's money in my account!

Skate Shop Inspiration

>> Monday, May 18, 2009

somehow my husband and i stumbled across a swiss guy that has started up a skateboard company (wierd longish story)...and now he is going to be opening a store and has enlisted the help of my hubby (i stick my nose in it too!) to get it ready for the grand ol' opening. the swiss guy asked for ideas for interior design which is right up my ally! so i researched straight away and here are some other shops that i thought were cool...i should probably make a mood board for the colours and textures, but haven't got around to it. my hubby will also be showcasing some of his own t-shirt designs which is pretty awesome.

more details to come about the shop and the brand! its all very exciting - just twiddle your thumbs until then....

sorry bad picture quality...my hubby hasn't taught me how to use CS4 properly yet haha.

A Turkish Delight

for quite a while now, Turkey has been on the top of my 'must visit' list, along with Egypt, Costa Rica and Peru - and pretty much the rest of the world! but after reading about sailing on a yacht on the Mediterranean sea, searching through ancient kingdoms and browsing the many bazaars, it really stole my heart because of its diversity since being a prime 'east meets west' stepping stone.

anyway, here is just a small example of [beautiful] Western/Mediterranean influence on Turkey's blue shores, that i will one day take a dip in!

Paris Hilton

sorry it's another kind of hilton - i don't think i would ever make a post about socialite paris hilton, this is the only time i will ever mention her - i promise!
instead i am referring to sacha hilton, a photographer who lives in the ever enchanting, Paris. he is only 18 years old and is a bit of a boy wonder. i am so impressed by his amazing photographs of interesting people at parties, of little things around his city, and you could even say that self-portraits of himself are a starring feature on his blog.very cool.

here is some hair inspiration since i have been thinking of getting a new hair style. my chemically straightened hair is becoming more and more frizzy/wavy every day, so it needs a fix!

i was also eying off this "lob" thing on gwyneth paltrow, jessica alba and heidi klum- a long bob. i like it.
from researching some cool hair cuts i have learnt that there are some hella crazy haircuts on some really brave people out there!

Sorronda Sonata

>> Wednesday, May 13, 2009

my heart bursts with pride when i come across australian designers with really ah-MAZE-ing collections...and Gail Sorronda definitely has my heart bursting.

her spring/summer '10 collection reminds me of 30s & 40s couture that is extravagant and bold. it's like seventeen crushes, crushed into one! i wish i had enough guts (and money!) to wear this kind of stuff everyday.

check her out on the infamous site: the sartorialist...

p.s. the pictures are meant to be blurry!

meetings = bleh!

>> Tuesday, May 12, 2009

today i'm pretty much going to be in meetings all day...much to my dismay (had to complete the rhyme there!). the only good thing about them is that i get to drink nepali tea and try the variety of biscuits on offer...hopefully that will be enough to get me through the day!

maybe if we had a meeting in a room like this i will be more inclined to be active and awake! loving the light and space....
